What is the Youth Advisory Board?
SCCT’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is an all-volunteer group of energetic, fun-loving youth interested in helping improve our theater and become leaders. It offers students in grades 6-12 a chance to speak up on a variety of theater-related issues and run special programs such as our Ghostlight Newsletter and organize special events like SCCT’s annual Scavenger Hunt.
All current and past SCCT students, performers and crew members in grades 6-12 are eligilble to apply. YAB members will serve a one-year term, or longer if they choose. Current Term: Sept 2025-August 2026. Applications for 2026-2027 term will be available summer 2026,
Exciting YAB Changes for 2025-2026 Term
To give students more chances to lead, grow and take on greater responsibility, SCCT expanded the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) this term.
YAB now has two dynamic and distinct main commitees. Each committee is designed to help members build strong leadership skills while working side-by-side with friends on fun projects. The two committees will team up to work together on many projects during the year, while also meeting and working independently on others.
- Executive Committee members take on key leadership roles and are expected to attend meetings 1–2 times per month. This team is for students ready to take charge and level up their leadership skills. You’ll manage major projects, respresent the SCCT youth voice in theater organizational decisions, and develop top level communication and problem-solving skills through both hands-on projects and educational opportunties.
- Activities Committee members organize special SCCT activities and meet 1-2 times per quarter (fall, winter, spring, summer), with additional meetings when preparing for special events. This team is for students who love being involved in special events and want to support SCCT in creative, behind-the-scenes ways. You’ll help plan and run fun activities for both SCCT families and the general public, organize fundraisers, and more! This committee is also great for members with less time to offer but who still want to be involved
